Traditional real estate brokerages don’t typically allow their agents to charge a low flat fee or 1% commission when listing a home for sale. They typically charge a total commission of 6% of the sales price with 3% going to the listing brokerage and 3% offered in the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) to the buyers agent.
If the listing agent ends up representing the buyer as well, then the entire 6% would go to the listing brokerage!
